etnies Rap the reincarnation of a skateboarding classic

Coming from the first skateboarder-owned footwear company, the etnies Rap was ahead of its time, a classic skate shoe like nothing else on the market at the time. Originally produced in three colorways, the kicks were some of the hottest joints within the skate culture. With the scene now as technologically sound as ever, etnies looks to bring back the Rap model in 2009 with the addition of several technical upgrades including vulcanized soles alongside mid/low cut models.
Always insightful, this latest video from etnies showcases key inflencers including Sal Barbier, Natas Kaupas, founder Pierre Andre Senizergues and the always pleasurable VP Don Brown. Check it out HERE.

Blue Tile Lounge - Newmarket Ontario's Finest

Repping one of the finest shop teams, sickest t-shirt designs, and some of the best shop videos period, Blue Tile Lounge has been a constant staple in the Southern Ontario skate community for years. The guys recently made the move a few doors up the street, did a little remodeling, and came correct with a super fancy and pretty new store sporting some of the nicest new shop digs we've seen in quite some time. Great job guys!

eS bags are for skateboarders

éS recognizes that the current state of skateboard-influenced-bags is being overrun by non-skateboarding brands. In 2008, éS tapped the Brown Buffalo Design Company to start creating some design drafts for the éS Fall 2009 Luggage Collection. The result is an intelligently designed line of bags from a skateboarder’s point of view.

The collection is technical and functional with the needs of skate travel at the top of the design list. After a few sketches, out came a collection of bags with classic and purposeful design aesthetics. The Brown Buffalo’s designs hail back to early 90's mountain bags, with clean and classic coloring utilizing durable rip-stop fabrics – perfect for the rough road life of a skateboarder.

Wild In The Streets

It’s official! This is going to be history in the making as Vancouver is blessed to get the big worldwide push with the entire Emerica team in full effect (Andrew Reynolds, Braydon, Leo Romero, Brian Herman, Kevin ‘Spanky’ Long, Figgy, Heath Kirtchart, Marquis Preston, Jerry Hsu and our Canadian crew). Mark this date down as it’s no time to be taking a vacay. More to come as far as starting points and time.

RVCA x Toronto Fashion Week

On Thursday March 20th, in celebration of LG's Toronto Fashion Week, RVCA teamed up with local promoters the Jons put together a party/showcase to help launch the brand's new line. Strangelove on College St. W played host to the party which consisted of a live photoshoot and some ripping tunes courtesy of DJ Medley. Big thanks to the guys in Cut Copy for rolling out, as well as their current tourmates Matt & Kim. Also no Toronto party would be complete without the Broken Social Scene posse rolling through as well to cut up a rug. Big thanks to the Jons for help making it all happen and to Pat and Matt Vardy for all the great photos.

Weekend at Birnie's

It started with OMB (David Birnie) seeing all these lame events for kids that cost money for really...nothing. So, with the help of the Seymour park crew and friends in the industry (32, etnies, Dragon, Dinosaurswilldie, Union, Airblaster, LRG, Da Kine, Capita), we came up with a free event with an overkill of product and no charge for the kids to enter. Kind of a thank you to the kids that are in the know. Three years and four events later, we are at the Weekend at Birnies 2-day parks event. We did day one at the lodge chair park. About 70 kids hung around and rode and were rewarded for trying tricks and just having fun. Fratboy BBQ'd up hot dogs and the sun was out all day. Day two was at the mystery chair lower jib park - the park was perfect for easy hikes and lots of fun things to hit. We even had reps hiking all day long. Lots of kids returned as did the sun and a lot of fun was had. Thanks to everyone that helped me out it's not like I do this by myself. See you next year for the return of Smitty and Hoppy at the Sanford Halfpipe.
-OMB
